This page allows you to enter marks for an assignment.

Assignment details

General details of the assignment may be made by clicking on the link "(edit this assignment)"

The weighting of an assignment may be edited directly this page. Be careful not to weight an assignment to 0, as the code will be unable to revert from this position.

Assignment marks

Creating records

If there are no records, you can create assignment_mark records for your class by clicking on the Create them! link. This can be used more than once, in case a student arrives late into a class and requires an assignment_mark record for something they are catching up on.

Editing records

Enter the date that the assignment was submitted (this defaults to the due date, so you should only have to change it for assignments submitted late), the mark, whether to omit the mark (in average calculations), and any comments you may have (comments may be made visible to students using an option in *Edit course info*). Then click the "Save" button.

Scaling marks

You can scale the marks in a particular assignment.

At the bottom of the page is a hidden area titled Mark Scaling. Click on this title to reveal the controls.

Mark scaling can be performed using one of two methods: Low-High and Mean-SD.

  1. Low-High allows you to suggest the new lowest mark and the new highest mark. Enter these two values, and select the radio button labelled Use High-Low scaling.
  2. Mean-SD allows you to define the Mean and Standard Deviation of your data set. Enter these two values, and select the radio button labelled Use Mean-SD scaling.

For either method, press Trial Scaling. The page will show you what the result of the scaling exercise would look like. Either modify your scaling parameters and retry Trial Scaling, or press Save Scaling if you are happy with the results.

Warning: since this is destructive, only do this on a duplicate copy of an assignment.
